LAPD says this lynching-in-effigy is not a hate crime. Apparently one can only really hate selected minorities, and members of those minority groups are exempt. I'd take advantage of this legal distinction, but I'm not sure if I'm a selected minority.

Former Obama speechwriter endorses McCain. Go to Google news and count how many mentions of it were made. Now compare that to Colin Powell's or Chris Buckley's endorsements. Talk about "shunnnnn, shunnnn the unbeliever."

The sad truth, writes Andrew Napolitano, is that everyone from Adams to Bush, and the Congresses in between, have run roughshod over the Constitution at some point. The exception, of course, will be His Holiness and President, Our August Lord and Savior Barack Obama (peace be upon him). He will be nice and uphold the Constitution with a smile to protect all Americans. Except anyone who's making too much money, of course–they'll be summarily executed.

The crazy judge who lost his pants at a family-owned DC dry cleaner and is trying to sue the pants off said business* is getting an appellate hearing. He's lost his judgeship over the case already.
(* Alternate: "trying to take the cleaners to the cleaners.")

How to lose a formerly favorable House race in seven minutes. Incredible. There's nothing wrong with the current Republican party that a good landslide election loss wouldn't fix.

India shuts down perennial international cricket favorite Australia, defeating the land down under by the largest margin since 1977. Granted, the veterans are still in the order, but maybe Indian cricket isn't as dead as the '07 World Cup would have one belive

An NDA (non-disclosure agreement) among friends. I imagine its greatest market potential would be among 12 year old girls who also happen to be legal nerds.

I kid you not. So don't pass around those pictures of that tree as an awkward sapling. At least not in Switzerland.

Obama's plan to "rewrite NAFTA" could make it tougher for Canadians to do business and add to the skilled labor pool in the US. (Harder than it already is.) That could send human and economic capital fleeing for Europe. Now THAT'S diplomacy we can believe in!

Indian Railways allows customers to book via web or SMS–and have tickets couriered!–in lieu of booking at their antiquated booking offices. And now their expanding their services to bus lines. Pretty hip for India. If only the rest of the country embraced e-commerce like that.

don draper has my back
107. Dear Don Draper, I’m single and looking to hook up with the type of girl that goes out on Halloween dressed as Mystique from the first X-Men movie or another costume that only requires body paint. What should I be for Halloween?
I can’t really picture what you’re looking for, but I’m sure it explains why you’re single. Also: I’m opposed to wearing costumes for Halloween or any other occaision. If forced, I’ll wear a tux and simple masquerade mask and stand near the bar.

Now, if they can wedge that into the SMS and telephony apps on my iPhone, and in the speech center of my brain, I'll be nearly embarrassment_free.
